Revising compositions is a necessary element of writing. If I turned in my first draft of a paper, I would most likely get a mediocre grade. My first draft is always jumbled with random thoughts and various grammatical errors. Sometimes there are stupidly obvious mistakes in my first draft as well. This is why revisions are vital for compositions. When you edit your first draft, you are able to catch grammar mistakes, and organize your ideas. Once you revise your paper, it is always helpful to have someone else read your composition. By having others read your paper, you can fix any awkward statements, or have them correct any grammar mistakes you may have missed. If you have someone else assist you in revising a composition, then you should ask them questions about your paper. An example would be "I was trying to communicate (blank). Do you think I effectively communicated this message?." If the opportunity arises for someone else to read your paper, ask detailed questions to receive input that allows you to improve your work.
